It’s quite saddening to read such hateful and ignorant comments surrounding the Oscars, The Artist, and Jean Dujardin. When I watched the Oscars tonight, I was completely overjoyed (my brother as well) that Jean Dujardin won Best Actor and that The Artist won Best Picture. 

One comment was like “I can’t believe that French guy won. He didn’t even speak in the movie!” It’s like no shit. It was a fucking silent film. Another comment was about how they can’t believe the Academy gave the award to French people… and it goes on to describe how the French are assholes and that the award should have gone to an American film. Okay. It’s one thing to be patriotic and it’s another thing to be a complete douche bag. No wonder the rest of the world sees the US as a total joke.

Side note: I always love watching Jean’s acceptance speeches. They’re always so full of genuine excitement. Only Jean Dujardin can get away with dropping an F-bomb in French at the end of his speech haha.
